Cannabis use is on the rise within the United States. A 2018 study notes that, while cannabis use among teens has decreased, American adults are increasingly using cannabis on the daily. According to Forbes, the international cannabis market is estimated to be worth $7.7 billion. It’s projected going to $31.4 billion by 2021.

The industry is booming to some extent because cannabis could be a versatile kind of medication. Several scientific studies have discovered that cannabis has the potential to assist with a number of medical conditions, including anxiety, chronic pain, and epilepsy.

But, as any recreational or medical marijuana user will tell you, not every cannabis is made equal. Different strains of cannabis produce different effects, and therefore can be used as different reasons.

If marijuana is legal in your state and you’re looking to give it a try, although not sure which strains best suit your needs, we’ve got you covered. Check out our help guide to marijuana strains below.

What exactly is a marijuana strain? If you’ve read a bit about marijuana, or if you enter most dispensaries, you might view the words indica, sativa, and hybrid. Generally, a lot of people divide marijuana in to these three categories.

Indica, which comes from the Hindu Kush mountains of India, is considered to have a relaxing impact on the user. Sativa includes a more energizing effect, while hybrid is a combination of the two.

Many industry experts, however, are reconsidering the indica, sativa and hybrid categories. In accordance with Amos Elberg, head of data science at Confident Cannabis, these terms are essentially meaningless.

“We see samples of all cannabis products tested through our partner labs, so when we take a look at all the data, particularly of the chemical makeup of flower, we have seen no identifiable characteristics that are consistent with indica, sativa, or hybrid,” he explains.

“Essentially people are by using these terms as catchalls for effect, but they’re its not all consistent with those effects. Some indica makes some people wired, not couch-locked, as an example.”

Quite simply, people shouldn’t be alarmed if a reportedly energizing sativa strain has much more of a mellowing effect, or maybe an indica strain ensures they are feel more bubbly and excitable.

Beyond indica, sativa, and hybrid, dispensaries might divide the types of cannabis they have got into strains. Strains are essentially different breeds of cannabis, and they’re bred to get specific effects on the user.

But if the terms indica, sativa, and hybrid are essentially useless categorizations, are strain names also meaningless?

Not really, says Elberg. “Not all seeds which can be sold underneath the same name are genetically identical, as well as necessarily related. Some producers might want to develop a strain name essentially being a branding exercise, or even to identify their product having an existing name because they believe the product matches characteristics the market expects from product sold under that name,” Elberg explains. You can find, however, still consistencies among product sold under specific strain names, Elberg adds.

“In general, for the less common names, product sold by different vendors is commonly pretty consistent,” he notes. “For the most common strain names, however, a wider number of different items are sold.”

If you purchase product from the quality source, the strains should be essentially consistent. Keep in mind, however, that each and every person reacts differently to cannabis.

How to find a strain – The strain you choose is dependent upon what effect zhzvmn desire. As mentioned earlier, cannabis has an array of medical uses, but some strains are better for several conditions than the others.
